(Genesis 12:1-2 1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing). From this we can learn that God can call us at any time. When Abraham was called he did not give reasons to God but he obeyed. He could have said I’m too old, leave it to the younger ones, or I’ve earned the right to relax and take it easy let the others do it but he didn’t, he just obey and went where God wanted him to go. There’s no retirement when it comes to serving God, He has the right to ask us for anything and send us anywhere at any time and season, all you need to do is to Obey Him. God’s plan brings fulfilment and is always greater than our own personal fulfilment. God told Abraham 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Allow God to make a name for you rather than you making a name for yourself. In God’s kingdom you don’t seek status, you earn it by serving others. God will treat others according to how they treat you. God told Abraham in (Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you). When you walk in God’s Will you don’t have to promote or protect yourself, God will do it for you. (1Chronicles 16:21-22 21 He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: 22 “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm). Abraham had the ability to hear God’s voice. (Genesis 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you). There was no prophets around or he couldn’t turn to the scriptures for guidance, getting it right was crucial for Abraham. He was being called to leave his job, home and his security. He needed to know the voice he was hearing was truly God’s voice. This tells us that Abraham had developed a relationship with the Lord. Building a relationship takes time, sensitivity, effort and commitment. You must learn to hear from God for yourself rather than asking others to confirm what God is telling you. Nothing increases your confidence like knowing God has given you clear direction for your life. God did not tell Abraham ‘Stay here and I’ll make you even richer’. No He said to Abraham ‘Get out’ and he obeyed and became rich. |
