The first ever global kids fashion week took place on March 19-20 in London. The show was organised by the children’s designer retailer alexandalexa.com and featured Paul Smith Junior, Junior Gaultier and Little Marc Jacobs and other upcoming brands.continue reading

According to Alex Theophanous the founder and CEO of alexandalexa.com, "Kids' fashion is playful, fun and innovative – we all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform," "This is why we are so proud to be supporting the very first Global Kids' fashion week. With this event, we aim to put children's fashion on the map worldwide."

The show was attended by celebrities such as Model Jodie Kidd, Kate Moss’s makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and Jamie Oliver’s wife Jools. There was also mini nail bar for children to get pedicure and manicure. Their nails were painted with washable non-toxic polishes so that their parents won’t be worried when they stick their fingers in their mouths.

The children’s wear market is booming and it’s now valued to be £6.5 billion in the Uk only with most designers offering junior collection to lure parents to buy them for their totes.

According to Dailymail, ‘Research has found that children start recognising logos at 18 months. By the age of ten, the average child has already memorised 300 to 400 brands. Among eight to 14-year-olds, 92 per cent are specific about which ones they want to buy.’

In my opinion parents should concentrated more on parenting their children and developing their personalities rather than spend a lot of time and money on designer wear.

Is it worthy dressing you baby in designer gears while they do grow out of them so quickly? Or are we making children to think wearing design gears makes them to be celebrities or we are making them to be fashion victims in the future?
