Another Hollywood marriage down the drain as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing after five years of marriage. The couple have a six years old daughter Suri. So sad as most of the time they appear to be happy in public. According to a source Katie Holmes is sick of husband Tom Cruises’ jet-setting ways and is tired of “trying to put on a happy face”….as they say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Holmes’s lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said in a statement to People magazine ‘This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,’ ‘Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest’.A spokesperson for Tom, who is currently in Iceland filming his new sci-fi movie Oblivion, made it clear that it was the actress who initiated the split. ‘Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children,’ a statement from his spokesperson reads. ‘Please allow them their privacy to work this out’. According to TMZ the actress filed documents in New York this week citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. She has asked for legal custody, primary residential custody and a ‘suitable amount’ of child support from her husband. In addition she has asked for the division of their property, although no mention of their pre-nuptial agreement is mentioned in the documents. The couple are worth around $275 million – much of that owing to Tom’s box office success. Tom is believed to have ‘not seen’ the divorce coming so did I. It was recently reported in tabloid the National Enquirer that “Tom is in major midlife crisis mode”, according to an insider as he’s “freaking out” about getting older and has started using Katie’s expensive cosmetics….could this be the main reason why they are getting divorced?
