Breast milk is unique to your baby and it constantly changes to meet your baby’s needs as he grows. According to researchers “good bacteria flows from the mother’s gut to her baby through breast milk, helping to establish good digestive health and the foundation of early immunity”.

Benefits of breastfeeding for the baby

• Less obesity

• Offers better mental development

• Better straighter teeth and mouth formation

• Breast milk provides the baby with antibodies and vaccine which fight against stomach upsets, gastro-enteritis and diarrhea

• Breastfed babies are less likely to develop flat head syndrome as their position is changed more frequently during feeding.

• Lowers the risk of diabetes

• Protect the baby against chest, ear, tummy, urine infections and wheezing

• Less allergic disease such as wheezy, eczema and asthma.

• Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of cot death according to a research.

• Breast milk makes your baby’s digestive system more acidic which prevents harmful bacteria/bugs from thriving.

Benefits of breastfeeding for the mother

• Helps develop stronger bones in later life such as osteoporosis

• Lowers the risk of ovarian and breast cancer

• Reduces obesity and lowers the risk of heart disease in later life.

• Helps the mother to bond with her baby
